Central Minister V. Muraleedharan inaugurated the concluding session of the one-day workshop at Trinity.

Vellayani Farmers Producer Company, Nemom had organized a workshop on “Agricultural Entrepreneurship Possibilities” at Trinity College of Engineering, Trivandrum on Saturday Oct 23, 2021. The campus is always known for promoting entrepreneurship among the students. Dr. Arun Surendran, our Principal, delivered a talk on Agri Tourism.

Farmer producer companies starting across the country are making a huge contribution for strengthening the agricultural sector in India. 

The concluding session of the workshop was inaugurated by Central Minister V. Muraleedharan on Saturday. He said that the Narendra Modi government is aiming at doubling the income of farmers through the mobilization, distribution, and value-added market for agricultural resources. V. Muraleedharan also added that the aim was to achieve success with the participation of the government and local bodies. 

Vellayani Farmers Producer Company has immense potential in the field of eco-tourism. Priority will be given to banana, paddy, coconut, vegetables, backwater fish, and organic farming. 

Kattakada MLA IB Satheesh, District Panchayat Member Vilapil Radhakrishnan, Vellayani FPO Chairman Advocate S Suresh, Block Panchayat members V Lathakumari, Ajikumar, Jayalakshmi, Dr. C. Sureshkumar, and Grama Panchayat member Mukkunada Saji spoke on the occasion. Trinity was appreciated for its innovative spirit of the faculty and students and contribution of engineering expertise to local community projects.

The issuance of certificates to shareholders was done by the Minister and the MLA. Agricultural experts V. Sureshbabu, Dr. SK Peethambaran, and Dr. K.S. Noordin, Dr. Arun Surendran, Dr. Ishwaran Potti, and Agriculture Officers Prashanth and Swapna were present on the occasion.

Farmers from the respective regions also participated in the discussions on coconut, vegetables, animal husbandry, fisheries, value-added possibilities, marketing strategy, and agro-tourism. Based on this, the objective is to submit the agro-industrial plan document for ten years to the Central and State Governments.
